Friday March 1st. 6-8 pm

This Friday, March 1, the Oakland Asian Cultural Center is hosting a special event featuring a beautiful mandala by artist  Nancy Hom  that evokes the essence and history of Oakland's Chinatown.  I will also be showing a historical slide show of Oakland's Chinatown, and my sister, the poet/activist  Nellie Wong will be reading poems related to Chinatown. Nellie and I were born and grew up in Chinatown.

Nancy is a gifted artist who has been doing Chinese American, Asian American and social-justice art work for many decades. OACC is privileged to have her mandala on display this Friday. This may be your last
opportunity to see this gorgeous work of art in its full 10-feet version, which debuted on February 13, and showed in a smaller 6-foot version at OACC's Lunar New Year celebration recently.

Please come join us this *Friday, March 1, from 6 to 8 p.m., at OACC, second floor of the Pacific Renaissance Plaza, 9th Street between Webster and Franklin Streets. Parking in the underground garage is a bargain -- $2 for the night! And, of course, some fine restaurants are nearby.

Hope to see you there!
