| No commentsDecember 2011Dearest Friend and Supporter of OACC: Happy Holidays! Thank you for supporting OACC and participating in our programs over the last year. Thanks to your support and commitment to the Oakland Asian Cultural Center, we have continued providing a home and space for hundreds of local groups, artists and communities that otherwise would not have a place and the resources to celebrate their traditional and contemporary pan-Asian and Pacific Islander American arts and culture. Though we have had our ups and downs this year due to the current economic situation, our staff, board, artists, participants and the communities have come together to ensure that OACC's doors remain open and that we can continue offering programs to the community. Thanks in part to the incredible popularity and demand for our programs and services, our facility in the heart of Oakland's Chinatown in Pacific Renaissance Plaza (our home since 1996), has absorbed a lot of use and wear and tear. Now, after almost 16 years of dedicated use by the community, our space is starting to show its age and wrinkles. Though we have done our best to address many of these expenses while continuing to maintain our programs and services, due to cuts from foundation, government, and corporate supporters, our financial resources have been unable to cover the many items including the replacement and maintenance of our air conditioning / heating unit, refinishing the floors in our beautiful Edward W. & Yuri H. Chin Auditorium, and the refinishing of our stage. As 2011 draws to an end our goal is to raise $30,000 to help cover the costs of repairing and maintaining key components of our facility.Ultimately these funds will ensure that OACC's facility can be maintained and continued to be used by you and the thousands of other community members who participate in our programs each year. If you haven't donated already, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to OACC before December 31st. With your support, we can continue preserving and celebrating APIA arts and heritage for current participants and future generations of artists, community leaders and alike!Use the enclosed response envelope or donate safely & securely via Paypal to invest in APIA arts and culture before December 31st. Donations can also be mailed to OACC at 388 Ninth Street, Suite 290, Oakland, CA 94607. In community spirit, Mona Shah Executive Director Continue
