With our new mission, “OACC builds vibrant communities through Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) arts and culture programs that foster intergenerational and cross-cultural dialogue, cultural identity, collaborations, and social justice” and three year strategic plan, we have been building upon this past year’s accomplishments as well as creating new ventures in the San Francisco Bay Area community. These are just some of our achievements this year:

Premiered Francis Wong’s “Diaspora Tale #2:1969” to a packed house of over 200 community members on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

Our School Tour and Outreach Program educated and served 52% more APIA and non-APIA students.

Diversified and increased the number of weekly classes by offering Mongolian dance and drama, Korean drumming and Philippine dance and music classes to over 300 youth, adults, seniors and families each week.

Our Artist in Residence Program provided 5 local and emerging APIA artists and artist groups with a home and space to create new works and present them to new audiences.

Our Seasonal Dishes workshop series taught 120 – 150 local youth and adults how to make traditional APIA dishes and provided an intimate setting for diverse community members to connect and share their stories and traditions around food and culture.
