Panelist Biographies

Jean Quan took part in organizing the Third World Strike and helped teach the first course on Asian Women History at UC Berkeley. She was the first Asian American woman elected to the Oakland City Council and one of the first Asian Americans elected to the Oakland School Board in 1990.

Harvey Dong participated in the Third World Strike and was involved in forming the Chinatown Cooperative Garment Factory, the Asian Community Center and support for the tenants of the International Hotel. He is currently a lecturer in the Ethnic Studies Department at UC Berkeley and teaches Asian American Studies.

Terry Bautista has been a Bay Area community worker, organizer and historian since the 1970s. She has built and directed community institutions and agencies to address advocacy and culturally relevant services for immigrants, the elderly, youth, students, and newly arrived workers.

Greg Jung Morozumi became an activist during the Vietnam War era with Asian student organizing at Oakland High, UC Berkeley and at other campuses in the aftermath of the Third World Strikes. He now works as a program director at Eastside Arts Alliance in east Oakland and curates exhibits at the Asian Resource Gallery in Chinatown.

Belvin Louie was a Third World Liberation Front field marshal during his freshman year at UC Berkeley. Belvin continues to facilitate groups as a culture change and diversity trainer at PG&E in addition to his IT job there.
